If you had told me that I would ever consider, let alone actually try, to cut down sugar from my diet, I would have said NO WAY! I love sugar but I could not ignore the fact that it was more detrimental to my health than I thought. Now a little sugar now and then is not a problem to me but I was having just way too much of it which contributed to my weight gain. I decided some months ago to cut down my sugar intake but I have not decided to completely remove it from my diet. I don’t think I’m willing to go that far. What I did was to just not have it when I have tea and coffee or whatever hot beverage I use to have it with. It obviously tasted dull in the beginning but you appreciate the taste of whatever you’re having as time goes by and I soon got used to it and actually enjoyed it.
My goal is to not have any sugar during the week; a goal I haven’t been consistent enough on but I’m not giving up. What I realised is that cutting down my sugar intake has heightened my taste of it. What I mean is that if I have less of it most of the time, I will taste even the smallest amount I have the next time I have it which means that I end up having less and less of it. I used to have 2 to 3 teaspoons per cup but after not having it for some time, 2 or even 1 teaspoons of it is enough. This is great and it has helped me to realise that I can actually go without it. I encourage you to do the same.
