Healthy Oats for Breakfast

One of my go-to breakfast meals is oats. I only started eating oats after seeing a few recipes on Liezl Strydom’s blog and I decided to include them to my healthy meal plan. The ones I eat, which are from the Wellness Warehouse, are wheat-free, high in fibre, sodium-free and are rich in a variety of minerals. Here is how I make my oats:

Healthy Oats 2

Ingredients:

– Half a cup of oats

– Two cups of water

– Quarter of a teaspoon of cinnamon

– Half a cup of low fat milk (or unsweetened almond milk)

– Fruit

 

Method:

Place half a cup of oats and two cups of water in a pot. Bring to a boil and simmer at low heat for about 20 minutes. Stir occasionally. Once the oats are cooked, add a quarter of a teaspoon of cinnamon and half a cup of low fat milk to them and stir. I love to have my oats with fruits, my favourite being blueberries and strawberries. The softer the fruit the better in my opinion. You can have also yours with bananas like Liezl does but I personally don’t like them.
