Sophisticated. Classy. Effortless. These are the words I would use to describe what Bobbi Brown Cosmetics means to me. I am always impressed by the aesthetic of the brand, from how their products are packaged to the look of their stores. I have always wanted to try something from the brand and I was soo excited when they released the Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation especially because it is said to be a matte foundation. Their other foundation offerings are not suitable for oily skin, from what I have observed, so this foundation is the perfect item for me to purchase from the brand. Here are my thoughts on this foundation:
This foundation comes in an amazing 30 shades and I was shade-matched for the shade Golden Almond. I was a bit nervous when I was told the name of this shade because I would never consider my skintone to be related to anything golden or almond but it is the best shade for me within the range. It is a tad bit light for me but it is not that noticeable.
This foundation has a somewhat thick texture but it blends out well and it does not feel heavy on the skin. It is said to be a full coverage foundation but it is definitely not. Almost all of my dark marks and hyperpigmentation still shows after 2 or even 3 layers. I have heard that Bobbi Brown is known to have foundations that are very skin-like and that allow your skin to show through. I am quite disappointed by this because I love a full coverage foundation and this foundation is quite expensive to give a light coverage. I have to rely on concealer to cover up my dark marks and hyperpigmentation. I have to say though that my skin looks soo amazing and flawless after I do my whole make-up routine so the foundation is definitely workable depending on the other products that you use it with. This foundation also does not oxidise which is very important.
This foundation is said to give a matte finish that is comfortable, breathable and weightless which I completely agree with. I have quite oily skin and this foundation gives me the most matt finish out of all the foundations that I have worn before. What I am most impressed by is that my skin stays matt for hours after applications and I only find myself blotting my face once or twice a day which is incredible! I do my make-up around 07:00am and I take it off around 18:00 most days and the foundation lasts soo well throughout the day.
I suggest that you moisturize your skin very well and prime appropriately before wearing this foundation. I use the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer (see review here) all over my skin and the Urban Decay De-Slick Complexion Primer (see review here) on my T-zone only. I used the Urban Decay De-Slick Complexion Primer all over my skin the first time I wore this foundation and it was a bit patchy and hard to blend out because of how matt both products are so I would suggest that you apply a mattifying primer on the T-zone only with this foundation.
The packaging is soo stunning, as expected from the brand. I love the frosted glass and the black lid and lettering. I love this foundation and I think it is definitely worth a try. I completely recommend this foundation for those of you with oily skin and if you need coverage just know that this foundation will not give you that and you will need to rely on your concealer for more coverage. This foundation also has an SPF of 15 which is awesome. I love Bobbi Brown and I will definitely be purchasing other products from them especially their skincare so stay tuned.
